Leaving Again - Morocco

Bonjour

For any of you who have kept up with some of my adventures by reading one or more of my earlier travel blogs, here we go again

As you may recall, I have traveled before with groups led by Georgia Lange, a former teaching colleague of mine who has become a travel agent specializing in small-group trips. I went with her group to France in 2022, and again to Egypt in 2023.  Both trips worked out quite well, so it sounded quite attractive when she sent out an email asking if anyone was interested in visiting Morocco. I signed up for it, and now it's time to go.

My initial journey on American Airlines will be from Tucson to DFW to catch the overnight flight to Madrid, Spain, arriving mid-morning. From there, it's a relatively short flight to Casablanca to meet up with my group in the afternoon.

Our tour, basically, is a large clockwise circle around the many varying landscapes of the country.

Leaving Casablanca, some of the places on our itinerary will include kasbahs, souks, markets with snake charmers, dense forests in the snow of the high Atlas mountains, Todra Gorge, known as the "Grand Canyon of the Sahara," four-wheeling in the desert at sunset, hitting the Atlantic coast at Essaouira, and exploring the mysterious city of Marrakech

And, of course, there must be a final night's dinner in Casablanca at Rick's Cafe.

After leaving Morocco, I am planning a couple of days of exploring Madrid. I've never been to Spain, so that will be the icing on my travel cake.

And then, sadly, my eventual return to Tucson via DFW.

The blog will be a regular update of what we've been doing, along with (I hope) lots of photos, just like the other blogs.

If you're interested in following along with me on this trip, just bookmark this page in your browser, and then check every few days after Feb. 20th. Remember, the oldest posts will always be at the bottom of the list, with newer entries at the top.

(I'm not planning on sending out multiple emails to remind people that I have published, as I don't want to be a pest to those not interested/following.)

Public comments from readers on this blog site are allowed, and I will answer any questions as best I can, or, if you want to contact me privately, my email is still JayLyons@aol.com. If you'd prefer to text me, I think that my IMessage text app will work for IPhone users, but probably not Android folks. I'm also on WhatsApp (JayLyons) and Signal under my phone number. And I'd appreciate any comments you might have.

As always, thanks for your interest.

Here's looking at you, kid!

Jay
