Ouarzazate to Marrakech

Image
Ait Ben Haddou We left Ouarzazate early this morning for a long drive over the High Atlas Mountains . But before we started climbing, we had to stop to see the ancient site of Ait Ben Haddou. Any of you readers who were Game of Thrones fans probably recognize these city gates from that show. This is a stop that is normally made on the tour, but, unfortunately for us, they are shooting the Tom Holland/Matt Damon movie “The Odyssey ” at this site, so we could only see it from a distance.    There were many views along the narrow highway over the mountains to Marrakesh. It was a really long day on the bus, but we did see some very nice sights. Lunch stop high in the mountains. Tajin with meat balls.  Chicken skewers with fries.  Mid afternoon potty stop. In Marrakech, Finally Hey, they put me in a suite! Special: An Evening in Marrakech

Image
I have quite a few comments and pictures from our bus ride today from Ouarzazate to here in Marrakech, but I was going to do that tomorrow night in one big two-day post. That is still the plan, but I’m going to throw up one post tonight of just pictures from our exciting first evening in Marrakech. We had a traditional Moroccan dinner followed by a long walk through the alleys of the Medina, and then around the main square of the Marrakech Medina. It was total sensory overload, but really, really cool. Will be spending some daylight hours in the Square tomorrow, too, so I’m really looking forward to it.  So, no words beyond these, just enjoy the pictures and fill in the blanks yourself. Ta Da!!! G’Night !! NEXT: From Marrakech to El Jadida via Essaouria Previous Page: Ourzazate to Marrakech Intro/Starting Page
